Wall Decorations "OBON"

These contemporary wall decorations encompass a diverse array of designs and techniques. Ranging in size from 10” to 22” in diameter, they showcase a fusion of traditional Japanese methods with evolving artistic expressions. Over time, these techniques have transformed, much like the baskets and fans, into distinctive, individual art pieces.

Crafted from stiff, flat coconut frond midribs wrapped with pandanus leaves, these decorations feature intricate woven patterns known as "teneriffe" or "BEBEN," created using hibiscus and coconut fibers. Additionally, cowrie shells, varying in size and color, are frequently employed to embellish these pieces, adding a touch of natural elegance.

More recently, floral motifs crafted from pandanus and hibiscus fibers have been introduced to enhance visual interest, further enriching the artistic tapestry of these unique wall decorations.
